The Cost of Comfort
Most people don’t even realize they’ve chosen comfort.
/
It’s rarely obvious.
It’s not lying on the couch all day. It’s choosing work you’ve been doing for long so you never feel incompetent.
It’s filling your calendar so you don’t have to think.
It’s saying yes to what’s expected so you don’t have to face disapproval.
It’s chasing easy wins so you don’t have to risk real failure.
Comfort isn’t laziness. It’s strategy. A way to avoid the embarrassment, uncertainty, and loneliness that come with meaningful change.
The problem is, comfort compounds just like effort does.
A month of it feels harmless. A decade of it is devastating.
Ask yourself: Where am I pretending to be productive just so I don’t have to be uncomfortable?
I’m not writing this to preach. I’m writing it because I’ve faced it. Because I still catch myself choosing comfort over progress.
If this resonates, hit reply and tell me where comfort has cost you. I read every response.
